Challenge:

The major challenge lay in ensuring a smooth transition from online planning to offline activities. Additionally, creating a robust community within the platform, incorporating an effective invitation system, and enabling chat functionalities without relying on third-party platforms presented key hurdles. Tracking and verifying offline activities added complexity to the challenge.

How we approached this project

To address the transition challenge, we implemented a mandatory invitation and referral system during onboarding. The app also allowed linking to other social media for events, enhancing connectivity and engagement.

We incorporated an invitation system for friends and family and introduced an in-app chat feature for event attendees to plan and engage before gatherings. Special interest groups and professional clubs found a home within the application.

For post-event verification, we introduced a survey form to gather attendee feedback, ensuring the application's effectiveness in the real world. Additionally, we integrated a 'Looking For' capability, allowing users to explicitly state their goals and connect with like-minded individuals.

Results

The development journey culminated in a progressive web application (PWA), selected for its versatility and cross-platform compatibility. Mobile responsiveness and a mobile-first approach guided the six-month development phase, which included design prototyping, testing, and validation. The application was formally launched, piloted successfully with clubs in the Pacific Northwest, involving over 200 users and receiving highly positive reviews.
